Reservations are required for the specialty restaurants and some carry a cover charge. They offer as many as 13 dining options steakhouse, sushi, teppanyaki , tapas, French, Mediterranean, Italian, Asian Fusion, buffets, and pizza,. Resort casual attire is always appropriate; however, the option of one formal evening is available on all cruises of seven nights and longer. The late-night Chocoholic Buffet continues to be a favorite event.

Your Shipmates

NCL's mostly-American cruise passengers are active couples ranging from their mid-30's to mid-50's. Many families enjoy cruising on NCL ships during holidays and summer months, particularly on Caribbean and Bermuda itineraries, although Alaska has become a popular family destination. Longer cruises and more exotic itineraries attract passengers in the over-55 age group.

Junior Cruisers

For children and teens, each NCL vessel offers a program of “Kid's Crew” supervised activities for young cruisers ages 3 through 17. Norwegian Sun and Norwegian Star introduced the fleet's first teen centers. Evening group and private babysitting services are available for a fee. Children under age two cruise free with their parents. Drawbacks for families are the smallish standard cabins that are lacking in adequate storage and the absence of self-service laundry facilities.
